When I was younger, I was very interested in how Chinese and Japanese characters/letters were formed, and soon become interested in calligraphy. It just so happened I had created a language for a new race I was creating from an old writing project. Here’s what my mind came up with…

To = Earth

With this I wanted to capture the solidity and consistency of the element of Earth. It’s reminds of a man running on the ground.

Fre = Fire

With this I wanted to best display the speed and ferocity represented in the element of Fire. I borrowed from the image of a roaring flame in a fireplace.

Curu = Water

Water can be seen in a lot of forms and is known for it adaptability. I used these stylized waves to best present its fluidity.

Ki = Air

It’s all around us and within us. It’s all-pervading and ubiquitous. In this image we have the urgent power of the Air Element.

Plyly = Darkness

That which conceal what we fear to be revealed ad refuge of all who fear, the element of Darkness is the definition of mystery. I went with a figure wearing a hood.

Sza = Light

The element of Light is the great arbitrator of what is and is not. Revealer of all secrets and untruths. I thought of the way a flashlight when it’s turned on for this.

Images of birds in flight and clouds in the sky was the main inspiration for this piece. It’s simple, yet elegant in design.
