Bloom (An Ode to Spring)

OdetoSpring.png

The trees start to budding
and life starts anew.
The wakening flowers
are covered in dew.
When Winter's
cruel powers are starting to wane.
I wish that this time would remain.

Summer has children
playing in the sunlight
with hot, humid days
and warm, somber nights.
But still my heart longs
for the year's first cool rain.
I'll wait til the Spring comes again.

In Autumn, we harvest
all that we've worked for.
A time when we're thankful
and to put things in store.
A time when we
gather the barley and grain.
Yet, I wish it were Spring once again.

Now Winter, is coldest
where chilling winds blow.
When the land is covered
in glistening snow.
But I'll sleep
while frost is still whitening the plain
and wake when the Spring comes again.

And now we have gone
through the Year's pageantry.
She goes through her courses
in sublime majesty.
But I think that
Nature's most sweetest refrain
is the sound of cool, clean Spring rain.
